Woonallee Field Day
29 August 2007
Dear Woonallee Client
While we would all like to see further substantial rains, seasonal conditions are certainly more promising than last year in most areas of the country. This has allowed us to focus more fully on our breeding and improvement program.
We are very pleased with the quality of our current breeding and yearling stock, but more importantly we are genuinely excited about our future genetic progress. We have undertaken another large embryo transfer program; implanting over 100 embryos from our leading donors; here in Australia, in South Africa, plus from our alliance with Buzzard Hollow Ranch in the USA.
We have also artificially inseminated over 140 breeding females, to a combination of our leading proven sires, plus our exciting new sire group.
To give you an insight into these latest developments and breeding directions, we would like to invite you to join us on Monday 1st October, from 12:00 noon.
You will be able to inspect next year’s sale bulls, plus stud sires and some of our proven donor cows.
Mr Fred Schuetze from Buzzard Hollow Ranch, Texas, USA will be in attendance and will give you a presentation on some of the new genetics on offer in 2008.
Mr Jim Guilfoyle will give a presentation on the Charlton feedlot and the influence and opportunities available to those using Simmental cattle.
Both speakers will also offer an overview of Simmental cattle, their importance in the beef industry and their experiences on how they perform from ‘conception to consumption’.
All attending will have a chance to win a $1,500 buying credit for the 2008 sale. To win the competition you simply need to judge a selection of young bulls and place them in the same order as Mr Fred Schuetze.
