WELCOME TO THE JULY EDITION OF THE WOONALLEE ENEWS

The last few months have been flat out with our mating programmes in full swing. It is always exciting planning the mating’s for our natural, AI and flush programmes. We are excited to introduce new sires into both our black and traditional programmes and this year we have added some amazing sires with genetic diversity and outstanding phenotype. The first new sire that we will use in our AI programme is Starwest Total Value (P). An incredible young sire with amazing power and substance, he has the ability to be a true herd changing sire.

STARWEST TOTAL VALUE (P)

We will also be using Woonallee Goldrush (P), the $46,000 top priced bull from this year’s sale. His structure, performance and overall class will combine perfectly with some of our elite polled cows. We look forward to seeing the results here at Woonallee and at his new home, Billa Park Beef, Queensland.

Two new sires will be introduced to our Black and Red programmes. Wheatland Ultimate Choice is a homozygous black and homozygous polled Wheatland Predator son out of Wheatland Bull 680S’s dam, 351N. He has the genetic power and extra growth we have been looking for in a black sire. New to the Red programme is 3D Red Power, sired by the legendary LFE BISS Black Advance and out of Crossroads Ramona 375R who is also the dam of 3D BLK Full Throttle. Red Power has the look of a true sire. We are very excited to see what these sires bring to our black & red programmes and look forward to seeing the results next year.

Anyone who has done much embryo work will understand that some days are good, even great and others you would rather forget! We had one of those great days recently when we flushed Pert Lucky One B13 to Wheatland Ultimate Choice for a massive 32 viable eggs. Also in the programme Woonallee B111, the mother of Woonallee Kathie G73 who was in last years show tem. She gave 13 viable eggs to Woonallee BHR Tornado so it will be exciting next year to see some of the resulting calves.

WOONALLEE CHARO H251

SIRE:LFE BLACK LAKOTA    DAM: LFE CHARO 604G

Thank you once again to the team at Lewis Farms for allowing us to access their very best donors. We have just started implanting our third shipment of embryos which feature donors such as LFE Razzle Dazzle 628R who is the dam of LFE Black Lakota. LFE Heaven Sent 30X who sold for $35,000 and also LFE Kirbie 217N who is the dam of LFE Red ridge who sold for $30,000 in 2011, just to mentioin a few. We have been overwhelmed with the quality of these cattle and believe they are perfectly suited to the Australian conditions. Pictured above is Woonallee Charo H251, an outstanding female from our first shipment of embryos from LFE, who will be part of our show team this year.

We are extremely fortunate to have a tremendous line up of walking herd bulls and these sires make up an integral part of the herd. Leading the way is Woonallee BHR Tornado (P). He has stood the test of time and with his unbelievable consistency and predictability, he has clearly earned his position as the best sire to have ever walked here at Woonallee. Also featuring in the line-up are Woonallee Dimension (P), Corinda Downs Deliver and 2 new sires, Willandra Gomez (P) and Yerwal Estate Hotshot (P).

Due to the increased demand in our SimAngus programme we have purchased more registered Angus cows, which now takes us to 40 registered Angus females. We have sourced these females from the elite Pathfinder herd in Victoria, and look forward to using our new and exciting black Simmental sires to produce the best SimAngus bulls possible.

With our mating programme well under way, we have looked in the tank and there are far too many embryos for us to utilise. We have decided to offer some of these for sale, on a first in best dressed basis, and will be offering some of the very best we have with over 150 to choose from. If you would like a list of these embryos please feel free to contact us.
